Vermillion PTO
Last spring, along with so many other things, we had to cancel the PTO Spring Carnival. Due to generally lower virus numbers in town and vaccines becoming more readily available, PTO has decided to go forward this year with our Spring Carnival. We know that many kids look forward to this event, and what a better way to celebrate all the hard things we've endured over the past year than by celebrating together (while still recognizing the need for and using appropriate safety measures)!! Masks will be required (unless eating) and hand sanitizing stations will be present throughout the event. This year's spring carnival is planned for Friday, April 23rd, 2021 from 5:30pm-8pm OUTDOORS on/around the high school track. We will need many volunteers to help make this event a success. Please consider signing up for a timeslot or two. Here is the link to sign up to help:signup.com/go/SqovbOq ...

We have many opportunities for volunteers throughout the year!  See below for some opportunities that may be right up your alley!
*This page will be updated as the year progresses, so stay tuned!

2 Hour Power Volunteer

Want to help but only have a limited amount of time to do so?  Consider signing up to be a 2 Hour Power Volunteer.  With this kind of volunteering, your only asked to give us two hours of your time.  Once you’ve given us that time, we promise we won’t ask for more!  Sign up here.

Box Tops

Be a Box Tops for Education hero.  We are looking for someone to stop at the schools to collect box tops, sort them, and submit them to the PTO President.  Please e-mail any of our PTO board members if you are interested in helping!

Bulletin boards

Are you a DIY-er or just enjoy creating things?  We need someone to create and maintain PTO bulletin boards at Austin, Jolley and VMS.  This would involve creating and maintaining the bulletin board display to best reflect current PTO events and ways to connect with the schools.  Please e-mail any of our PTO board members if you are interested.

Teacher Grants

Each year the Vermillion PTO has limited funds to award to programs that benefit the students of the Vermillion School District.  A grant, if approved, must be completed and submitted for reimbursement by the end of the current school year.

  • The person requesting the funds must be a current member of the Vermillion PTO Chapter.
  • Preference is given to those grants that directly affect Vermillion School District students.
  • Grant limits (for each school year): $150 per classroom, $250 per grade level, and $500 per school building. These levels may be exceeded in certain instances, as decided by the PTO Board of Directors.
  • If a grant is approved, it is up to the applicant to purchase the item and submit a receipt for reimbursement unless an alternative arrangement has been discussed and agreed upon by the PTO Board of Directors.

Box Tops for Education

Don’t forget to bring in any Box Tops you have to your child’s school by February 21st, 2020!

Box Tops for Education is one of our ongoing fundraisers for PTO. The PTO will use the funds & points obtained through this program to directly benefit our children & our school. The funds allow the PTO to purchase much needed supplies (for art, PE, classrooms, etc.). Thank you for your support!!

General Mills “Box Tops for Education” can be found everywhere, on a wide variety of items, including Huggies products, Cottonelle products, many Betty Crocker and Pillsbury products, numerous brands of cereal, Yoplait yogurt, Juicy Juice, and many more. (For a full list of participating products, click here.)  10 TOPS = $1.00 for our school!!  Simply clip the Box Tops cleanly along the dotted lines, being careful not to cut off the expiration date, and turn them in to your child’s teacher.

(You can print this newsletter if you’d like a place to organize your box tops.  You do not need to organize them this way, however. You can just send them in a baggie or envelope to school as well.)

Box Tops for Education has gone digital!  Download the new app to credit box tops online!  For a limited time, you can get double-points because we can STILL ACCEPT the cardboard tops until they expire!  Scan those receipts, then cut out the box tops to get our schools .20/top!
